Founded in 1981, LifeQuest of Arkansas is a volunteer-based, nonprofit establishment for active adults. Based in Little Rock, Ark., the organization provides an infrastructure through which adults can create a more purposeful and rewarding post-retirement life or Third Age. The program is divided into two phases, first of which is Adventures in Learning, an educational portion that offers lectures in a variety of topics, such as health, financial management, media, politics and state/local history. The second phase of the program is Community Services, this portion offers civic services, such as Caring Wheels (one-on-one transportation to medical appointments), Computer Comfort (basic computer help), Friendly Callers (telephone reassurance) and Handy Hands (minor home repairs).
LifeQuest of Arkansas was founded in 1981 as the Shepherd’s Center of Little Rock by twelve local congregations of various faiths. The name was changed in 2003, but LifeQuest remains affiliated with the Shepherd’s Centers of America and is one of its most successful organizations.
